Pionero

The Great Wine

Pionero perfectly embodies one of the values held and practised by Otto Peter Bemberg and his son, Otto Sebastián, passed on from generation to generation until they became part of its legacy.

VINTAGE

VARIETAL

78% Malbec
15% Cabernet Sauvignon
7% Cabernet Franc

AGEING

18 months in new French oak barrels.

BOTTLING

To preserve intact all the wine features, bottling is performed without stabilizing or filtering.

AGEING POTENTIAL

20 years

Pionero is a true reflection of Argentina's wealth, given the unmistakable presence of Malbec- our flagship variety. The wine delicately embraces its' Bordeaux roots, of which are the very same as those that boosted wine produced in Argentina, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

TASTING NOTES

Savoury elegance with lots of tension and class. Bright ripe cherry, blackberry and damson with notes of dried herbs, pepper, liquorice, inky graphite, cedar and tobacco leaf. Hints of crushed stone and gunflint adds restraint to the seductively pretty violets fragrance. A multi-layered elegantly structured wine with lively acidity, fine grippy tannins and velvety power underlined by inky mineral graphite. Seamless integration of tight grained, flinty, toasty oak. Drinks perfectly at the time of release yet will gain further bottle age complexity if cellared properly.
